Chris Bosh suing mother of his child over trademark, publicity rights
s the Heat battle the Celtics on the court, Miami forward Chris Bosh is taking the mother of his child to a different type of court. Bosh is suing Allison Mathis for "infringing his trademark and publicity rights," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Mathis is appearing in the third season of "Basketball Wives," a VH1 reality show. Both Mathis and "Basketball Wives" producer Shed Media are targeted in the suit.
"The use of Plaintiff's name by Defendants is primarily commercial and not communicative," the suit alleges, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Further, the show, 'Basketball Wives,' is not transformative, but rather the use, depiction, or imitation of celebrity NBA basketball players, including Plaintiff, is the very sum and substance of the show."
According to TMZ, Bosh recently married Adrienne Nicole Williams, but he denied those reports and said while the marriage was scheduled they were not there yet.
Previously, Celtics center Shaquille O'Neal clashed with ex-wife Shaunie over her role in the VH1 show.
Another former "Basketball Wives" alum, Royce Reed, still reportedly owes more than $500,000 to Magic center Dwight Howard for damages after a violation of a gag order. Howard recently took his pursuit of those damages to California after winning the original judgment in Florida.
